Announcement: Cuckoo Algorithm Pool Hashrate Adjustment

The Cuckoo algorithm is used by a number of currencies, including Grin and Aeternity. Due to unique characteristics of the algorithm, the hashrate shown on the mining pool and the hashrate shown on the miner backend is different, due to different statistical methods.

The hashrate shown in the miner backend is based on the hashrate of the miner. Whereas the hashrate shown in the mining pool is based on the data received from the connected miner (the data submitted by the miner is the speed of the “Graph” which is used to calculate the hashrate). The Cuckoo algorithm requires the miner to complete N times hash calculations before submitting one graph. Because of this, the hashrate shown in the miner backend is different from the hashrate shown in the mining pool.

To help miners more accurately estimate the mining revenue, F2Pool will adjust the AE and Grin-29 hashrate shown in the pool. After the adjustment, the hashrate shown in the pool should match with the hashrate shown in the miner backend. The adjustment will not impact GRIN mining revenue at all.

Details:

  1. AE hashrate adjustment approach (similar to other AE mining pools and communities)

Hashrate unit of measurement: g/s

Ratio: 42

After the adjustment, the AE hashrate of F2Pool will reduce by 7%.

This will not impact mining revenue.

bminer and minerOS mining software will also adust the calculation method, and will be consistent with the mining pool.

    2. GRIN hashrate adjustment approach

Hashrate unit of measurement: g/s

Ratio: 21

After the adjustment, GROM AE hashrate of F2Pool will reduce by 50%.

This will not impact mining revenue.

As a final reminder, this adjustment is for the displayed hashrate in F2Pool and will not influence AE or GRIN mining revenue in any way.

Furthermore, F2Pool held a poll within the miner community which lasted three days. 187 individuals joined the vote, and 121 voters (65%) agreed to the adjustment.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the poll, and thank you to our entire miner community for your long-term support and trust. Don’t forget to download our F2Pool Mobile App to obtain real-time worker and pool updates.
